Shoot for the future

The "Shoot for the Future" initiative aims to highlight the increasingly important role that advanced materials can play in a circular carbon economy.

Highlighting Aramco’s leadership in innovation and community engagement

The courts are built with innovative and advanced materials, with the flooring made partly from recycled plastic.

A strategic partnership

Aramco has enjoyed a thriving business relationship with China for decades, and now we’re also partnering in sport, to push the limits of possibility in basketball.

Renovating community courts with innovative materials

This project aims to showcase the increasingly important role that advanced materials can play in a Circular Carbon Economy, whilst supporting Aramco’s objective to support and empower communities and youth through sports.

The first three courts were renovated in iconic China basketball location, Dongdan

From plastic waste to innovative flooring

Advanced Materials for community sport

To bring this project to life, Aramco worked closely with its chemical arm, SABIC, and ENLIO, which has innovatively developed a customised advanced material formula using SABIC's advanced recycled plastic as the main material component.

Recycling plastic waste
Post-consumer plastic waste is converted into plastic-derived oil (PDO)
Creating Recycled Plastic Granules
SABIC uses the PDO to create pellets
Producing innovative basketball flooring
ENLIO uses these pellets as part of the materials to manufacture professional quality basketball flooring

Advanced materials made from hydrocarbons have the potential to help build a lower-carbon future.

Aramco is investing to be one of the world’s leading converters of hydrocarbons into the essential materials that support economic and social progress – in China and around the globe.

With SABIC and ENLIO

these materials power Olympic-grade courts

ENLIO SES tiles, approved by FIBA and FIBA 3X3 (notably used at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games), are made from homogeneous TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) – an eco-friendly alternative to traditional polypropylene.

Floor lifespan in years

These tiles offer excellent shock absorption, optimal ball bounce, and high slip resistance – making them ideal for both professional and community courts. More than that, they embody the fusion of circular innovation and high-performance sports.

Innovation at the service of the game

First the iconic Dongdan, then Guomao, and beyond

In order to drive this project forward, Aramco will continue working with partners to achieve the ambition of building courts across the country.
